The World of Watercolor

Description

4 WEEK CLASS. Meets once a week on Sunday, 12:30 - 1:30pm CST. Ages 7 - 14, Dates: Feb 7 - 28

From botanical illustrations to holiday cards, from trendy patterns to lovely portraits, from landscapes to animal studies - watercolor is one of the most versatile and well-loved forms of painting. In this class students will receive a crash course in the mechanics of watercolor, including: understanding of paper, brush types and control, properties of wet and dry paint, basic tricks and techniques. They will practice these foundations in a series of projects that cover the scope of the most common watercolor projects: flowers and botanicals, landscapes, animal portraits, and self portraits. Through these exercises they will explore the fundamentals of watercolor technique, and also experiment with basic principles of color, likeness, value, and texture. TEACHER: Maya Jevans
