6 WEEK CLASS. Ages 7 - 14, Meets once a week on Tuesday, 5:00 - 6:00pm CST. Dates: March 2 - April 6

This advanced class is open to campers that have taken one of our Procreate classes, or have some experience using the program. So you know the basics of Procreate. Time to take that knowledge to the next level! This is a course for students looking to learn advanced techniques and composition for Procreate on the iPad and iPad Pro. Students will learn how to expand their brush library, color pallets, multi layering designs, composition skills and a variety of effects. Each student will draw and design different styles of compositions which we will create and color on their IPad, so their images can either be ready to print or shared digitally with their friends and family. CLASS AGENDA:

WEEK 1 - Drawing basics and Anatomy- The first day we will go deeper into using the best tools that procreate offers for drawing and anatomy. Students will use these lessons to create a still life or figurative drawing as their homework.

WEEK 2 - Landscapes and Nature- We will study brushes, color pallets and techniques that are best suited for creating landscapes and nature inspired imagery. Students will create either a landscape or image of something from nature.

WEEK 3 - Graphic Design and Lettering- We will learn the various tools and effects used to create strong graphic design and lettering based designs. Each student will create either a sign, logo or flyer

WEEK 4 - Abstract Art, Additional effects and Apps- We will experiment with creating abstract images while we discuss the various additional effects and brush library applications available for the procreate The students will organize their final project for presentation.

WEEK 5 - Surprise! Student choice.

WEEK 6 - Each student will present a finished image from one of the styles practiced through the week, using the skill sets we learned. We will review each students’ work and discuss ideas and additional techniques for refining their images. Class concludes with a live presentation for family and friends. We will also share, with the students’ permission, their work on the Mortal Machine Gallery IG stories the following evening, so an audience can see what they made and the students can experience digital art show!

MEET THE TEACHER:

GABRIEL SHAFFER lives and works in New Orleans. He is part owner and head curator of Mortal Machine Gallery, located in the French Quarter. He is also the son of renowned folk/visionary artist Cher Shaffer and learned from a number of pioneering artists in this genre as a youth. Since a sell out premier at the 2005 Outsider Art Fair, in NYC, Gabriel has exhibited his work across the country and sold hundreds of works of art to collectors, rock stars, celebrities, politicians, best selling authors, galleries and museums throughout various major cities nationally and internationally. He has appeared in dozens of magazines, newspapers and blogs such as Raw Vision, Art Papers, Boing Boing,Traditional Home, Architectural Digest, The Huffington Post and Juxtapoz. Gabriel has also had extensive experience with producing murals, installations and illustrations for various corporations, restaurants and museums including Facebook, BMW, Pandora Music, Sierra Nevada, PBR, Branded Arts, Mellow Mushroom, SECCA, The North Carolina Museum of Art and The Asheville Museum of Art. He Is currently a contributing writer for Juxtapoz magazine.

Our Activity Directors have made a commitment to forego other opportunities to facilitate the Activity at the appointed time, and have a limited number of spaces to make available to participants. The cancellation policy for this Activity is as follows:

Cancellation 24 hours or less in advance of Activity or no-show. Any activity cancellations 24 hours or less before the start date and time of the Activity or failure to appear at the Activity at the appointed time will result in forfeiture of the consideration paid for the Activity. No refunds or credits will be provided.

Cancellation more than 24 hours before Activity. Activity cancellations more than 24 hours in advance of the start date and time of the Activity will result in a refund in the amount equal to what was paid to Kids Connected for the Activity.
