Shape Up with the
Colorful Train of Emotions
(4
weeks Series)
Learning Goal: Students will
develop a better understanding of their own emotions and those of the people
around them by working with shapes and colors.
Time Commitment: 30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time
outside of class.
Did
you know that different shapes and colors can be associated to our emotions?
In this 4 week course, students will learn to feel, recognize and express their
emotions by using shapes and colors. Students will explore the
facial expressions, body language and sensations that represent some of their
own feelings and how they react to them through singing, dancing and having
lots of fun activities!
Each
week, the children will board the Colorful Train of Emotions to travel to a new
destination, where they will learn about one shape, color and emotion. During
each session, the students will get the opportunity to reflect on how each
color and shape makes them feel and how to learn to express their feelings
appropriately through I statements such as “I feel ___ because ___”. They will also
learn about different strategies that can help them regulate their emotions
through breathing exercises and visualization.
The
students will be able to apply the knowledge they will learn in class through
the use of slides, interactive games and weekly handouts that the teacher will
provide to the parents before class. Some printing and cutting of lesson
material might be required.
Join us each week for a new adventure!
