Dungeons and Dragons

Description

Explore the castle of a wise old King who asks for your help after misplacing his most valuable ring, or journey through the fallen forest searching for the hidden Elves that legends say can heal the trees. Dungeons and Dragons presents endless possibilities and allows you to roleplay as a hero in your own story. Players work together as a team to decide how to respond to problems and solve them. D&D is not only fun-- it's a group social activity that teaches teamwork, cooperation, storytelling, problem-solving, and yes, if I have to be honest, there's a little bit of math (yuck!).

Students will play through scenarios that teach the mechanics of the game, the math and strategy of combat, the approach to roleplaying social encounters, and ultimately how to work together as a team to succeed.

GROUP SIZE: Four students max

MEET THE DUNGEON MASTER:

Olivia Winter has played, ran and written many Dungeons and Dragons adventures over the past few years. She grew up just outside of New Orleans, participating in theatre and other performing arts. She has made a career out of theatre and works as a prop builder and scenic carpenter for local theater companies. Her love of theatre and Dungeons and Dragons melded in college when she properly learned how to play. Since then she has taught many new players and friends how to play the game. In the year leading up to quarantine she helped run Adventures League, a weekly public Dungeons and Dragons event, at D4 Table Top Cafe but now uses her free time to play multiple Dungeons and Dragons games with her friends online. She is very excited to teach a new generation of players.

Students will need to print out their character sheet (or hand write one if you don’t have a printer). Students will also need to create a free account on Roll20.net , a free online virtual tabletop that allows users to roll virtual dice and move virtual tokens around a shared map.
